Builders should think ahead and build for the connectivity demands of tomorrow, according to Scott Sampson, the CEO of Fiber Fast Homes.

Scott Sampson, the CEO of Fiber Fast Homes, said developers both young and old are adapting to changing connectivity demands.
He said he would have thought younger generations of builders would be more prepared than older builders, but that isn’t the case.
“They’re all sort of learning,” Sampson said, as he joined the latest episode of the Beyond the Cable podcast, produced by Broadband Communities.
According to Sampson, smart home divisions at many development organizations have started ‘bleeding into’ other divisions as connectivity demands increase.
Currently, Fiber Fast Homes operates in 11 states, according to Sampson.
Many of the company’s customers are gained through bulk deals with developers and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) owners.
He said part of his mission is getting developers to understand who their customers are.
“They seem to have a tendency to be a little bit stuck in the past,” he said. “I mean, I still see them putting in coax.”
Sampson said he wants residential developers to think ahead, not to their kids, or their grandkids, but their grandkids’ kids.
“How do we in 70 years, 60 years, how do we still have that house, that’s ready for this stuff, be ready for it?”
The demand will be there, Sampson said, which will have negative consequences on developers who don’t adjust.
“If you don’t do it, the guy next door will,” he said.
