GoNetspeed has completed construction of a fiber network expansion in Wells and Ogunquit, two communities in Maine’s York County.

The milestone, announced by GoNetspeed earlier this month, represents a $2.5 million investment, the ISP’s release stated earlier this month.

As a result, more than 3,700 homes and businesses how have access to GoNetspeed’s services, with sign-ups currently being accepted.

Richard Clark, the president and CEO of GoNetspeed, spoke about the impact the ISP’s work has on both communities.

“Now, both communities are equipped with the fastest technology available, now streamlining work, education, entertainment, telehealth, and more,” Clark said. “Our investment in Wells and Ogunquit reinforces our dedication to expanding fiber-optic internet access across the Northeast, and we are not slowing down.”

As of now, over 30 communities across Maine enjoy access to GoNetspeed’s services, according to the ISP.

Their investment in Wells and Ogunquit, all privately funded, mirrors the company’s recent efforts in states like Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Last month, GoNetspeed announced a $13 million investment, combined from public and private funds, that will propel their expansion into Rhode Island, which will become the tenth state in the ISP’s footprint.

Of the funds powering the investment, $9 million were awarded through the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s Capital Projects Fund, according to GoNetspeed.

Additionally, GoNetspeed has contributed $3.9 million into their Rhode Island expansion, which is set to get underway in Newport.
