Over 10,000 homes and businesses in the south-central Ohio city of Lancaster will gain access to Glo Fiber’s broadband service once network construction in the city is complete.
Glo Fiber was previously known as Horizon Telecom, before a rebranding last year. The provider was acquired by the Shenandoah Telecommunications Company in 2024, however.
According to an announcement this week, over 4,000 homes and businesses already have gained access to Glo Fiber in Lancaster, a city of roughly 40,000 residents.
Construction on the network is expected to finish in the second half of 2025, Glo Fiber’s announcement stated.
Currently, Glo Fiber serves customers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
“As we continue to grow throughout Ohio, we look forward to bringing our award-winning fiber service to even more residents and businesses,” said Chris Kyle, the VP of industry affairs at Shentel, who was quoted in Shentel’s release.
“We are excited to continue our fiber-to-the-home expansion in Lancaster,” Kyle said.
Lancaster Mayor Don McDaniel was also quoted, saying he welcomes the new investment from “a company that is already part of Lancaster.”
Additionally, the mayor said Glo Fiber “will be delivering to our residents and businesses better options for high-quality internet.”
Residents of Lancaster will receive advanced notice of nearby construction efforts by mail, Glo Fiber’s release added.
