Glo Fiber has announced they’ve reached an agreement with a private Virginia community organization to deploy fiber broadband to over 2,400 homes to a gated community along the James River.
Kingsmill on the James, a gated community in Williamsburg, Virginia, boasts three golf courses, three playgrounds, a fully deputized police force, and a 28-acre pond for fishing and kayaking, according to the development’s website.
Now, thanks to a new agreement between the Kingsmill Community Services Association and Glo Fiber, the planned community will be able to add Glo Fiber’s high-speed broadband to its list of offerings.
The deal was announced by Glo Fiber earlier this week, in a Feb. 13 release. Ed Connors, the CEO and president of the Kingsmill Community Services Association, said the agreement will give residents expanded options.
“This enhancement could positively impact property values and provide substantial support for the growing number of residents working from home,” he was quoted as saying in Glo Fiber’s release.
Glo Fiber, which provides fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) internet powered by Shentel’s 9,300-mile-long regional fiber network, serves markets in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia, the company’s release stated.
Construction is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2024, the company’s announcement stated, and Kingsmill residents will receive notice roughly 15 days prior to construction activity in their neighborhood.
