Residential and business customers currently subscribed to Fybe’s 1 Gig service are in line for an upgrade with no additional cost.
Fybe, a subsidiary of the Roanoke Cooperative, announced last week that the new plans will be available this month.
Bo Coughlin, Fybe’s COO, said the launch reflect Fybe’s commitment to providing users with top-tier technology.
“Whether for families, students, or businesses, these advancements are designed to keep everyone connected and thriving in a digital world,” he said, according to Fybe’s release.
According to Fybe, the new, faster service plans will offer improved connectivity for streaming, gaming, remote work, and smart home applications.
The news comes as Fybe has continued progress in North Carolina.
Earlier this year, Fybe received four Growing Rural Economies with Access to Technology (GREAT) grants totaling approximately 9 million dollars.
Last November, the company announced that thousands of homes and businesses in Edenton, North Carolina, located in the state’s Inner Banks region, are now beneficiaries of a completed network expansion by Fybe.
The expansion, which brought fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology to 4,300 locations, allowed users to send data as fast as about 70 percent of the speed of light and provide broadband connections at speeds of up to 1 Gbps, according to Fybe.
