The first residents in Danbury, Connecticiut to gain access to GoNetspeed’s fiber-internet network will soon be followed up by thousands more, according to the Alabama-based internet service provider (ISP).

In total, over 14,300 homes and businesses in Danbury will gain access to GoNetspeed’s network, the ISP’s release this week stated.

Meanwhile, construction on the network is being backed by private investment, to the tune of $7.6 million.

With the first connections being established, Danbury joins GoNetspeed’s 40-community footprint in Connecticut, the ISP announced Tuesday.

“Our expansion into Danbury shows GoNetspeed’s dedication to bringing fast, reliable internet to modern communities,” said Tom Perrone, GoNetspeed’s COO.

Additionally, Perrone said residents using GoNetspeed’s network will enjoy the benefits of high internet speeds.

“We’re excited to bring faster speeds, better service, and more options to another Connecticut community,” he said.

The network, which provides speeds from 500 mbps to two gigabits, will be completed this summer, GoNetspeed’s release stated.

The ISP’s announcement also said homes and businesses would be connected as construction continues on a “neighborhood by neighborhood” basis.
