Fiber manufacturer Clearfield has released the latest small size option in their FiberFlex series, which includes the Fiber Flex 600, an active cabinet that provides up to 72 internal feeder fiber distribution ports.

Clearfield, a fiber manufacturer headquartered in Minneapolis, has touted the release of a new Build America Buy America compliant product, a form factor, that the company said can “configure for numerous applications, including remote OLTs with PON distribution.”

Clearfield announced the product’s release through a Feb. 29 release and detailed how their FieldSmart FiberFlex 600, a small form factor of the FiberFlex 600, can be used in the field.

“With its small form factor, the FiberFlex 600 will give our customers more flexibility in how it is deployed in the outside plant, helping to overcome permitting challenges and rights of way impact as they look to deploy fiber broadband to less populated areas,” said Johnny Hill, Clearfield’s COO.

According to Clearfield’s announcement, Hill said the product release provides operators with a smaller deployment option from Clearfield “to fit, and scale, to any size network.”

Clearfield said their small form factor of the FiberFlex 600 can additionally configure with wireless base stations with fiber backhaul aggregation, and active network equipment with backup power needs, the company’s announcement stated.

It’s the latest in a series of strategic moves made by Clearfield.

In January, the company announced a new design for their CraftSmart Fiber Protection Vault that will result in a 67 percent reduction of costs associated with freight, transportation, handling, and storage.

The design for the product, which was created by Clearfield’s internal team, allowed the vaults to be shipped without being assembled, and eliminated supply chain constraints, providing a 300 percent improvement in the utilization of inventory space, the company previously stated.
