Over 266,000 feet of fiber-optic cable now brings high-speed internet to roughly 700 households in Lake Sinclair and east Baldwin County, according to Kinetic.
The internet service provider (ISP), based in Kentucky, called it a “transformative project” that represents collaboration between multiple parties.
Funded by $920,000 from the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, along with over $150,000 of matching funds from the county, the project is now poised to elevate the quality of life for residents, Kinetic’s April 7 release stated.
Along with the public funds, Kinetic invested $817,000, according to their announcement.
Sarah Baska, the Director of Broadband Program Operations for Georgia’s broadband office, said the project will have a lasting impact on Lake Sinclair.
“The expansion of high-speed fiber internet is more than just an infrastructure achievement; it’s about connecting people, creating opportunities, and fostering innovation,” she said.
Kinetic’s announcement also included comment from Michael Foor, the director of Kinetic’s operations in Georgia.
He said the network will offer residents “unparalleled internet speeds that facilitate seamless streaming, gaming, and remote work capabilities.”
The fiber build in Baldwin County is part of more than $354 million Georgia has invested into broadband since 2021, since the passage of the American Rescue Plan Act.
According to Kinetic, the project is also part of the company’s multiyear investment strategy, a $2 billion effort “to dramatically expand multi-gigabit fiber service across the company’s 18-state footprint.”
