The number of so-called fiber cities in Louisiana has grown thanks to a Nebraska-based fiber internet provider that has continued to make good on a commitment to expand services in the Pelican State.
Fastwyre Broadband has announced that residents and businesses Leesville, a rural community in western Louisiana with a population under 6,000, will be the recipients of fiber-optic broadband network services, according to a Nov. 13 statement from the company.
Leesville joins DeRidder, Grand Lake, Moss Bluff, Oakdale, and Westlake on the list of communities designated as Fastwyre Broadband’s fiber cities. The company also maintains other fiber networks in Nebraska, Missouri, and Alabama, according to the company’s website.
Leesville’s mayor, along with the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, joined other city leaders for a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 13, to celebrate the launching of the network, according to Fastwyre Broadband.
Chris Eldredge, the CEO of Fastwyre Broadband, said his firm is proud to deliver fiber broadband to customers in Leesville.
“We believe all Americans should have access to reliable and affordable high-quality internet service, and we look forward to providing Leesville residents and businesses with the latest fiber technology at a terrific value,” he said.
Eldredge, whose comments were provided with Fastwyre Broadband’s announcement, said fast downloads, seamless streaming, and lag-free online activities are some of the benefits customers in Leesville can expect from Fastwyre Broadband’s fiber network.
According to Fastwyre Broadband, the Leesville network will feature fiber-to-the-premises infrastructure that can facilitate online video conferencing, e-commerce, virtual learning, entertainment and telehealth needs. Fastwyre said internet speeds on their network are expected to range from 100 megabits per second to 1 gigabit per second.
Fastwyre Broadband, a portfolio company of Madison Dearborn Partners and Catania ABC Partners, said it is “committed to expanding in Louisiana” as part of their growth, which has been recently accelerated, the company’s announcement said.
