Elon Musk has taken to social media to attack a joint venture between Oracle, Open AI, and SoftBank the day after it was promoted in the White House by President Donald Trump.

The joint venture, called Stargate, aims to invest “$500 billion at least in AI infrastructure in the United States,” Trump said Tuesday.

Musk, however, is claiming the joint venture doesn’t have the funds.

“They don’t actually have the money,” Musk, Trump’s political ally, posted on X. “SoftBank has well under $10B secured. I have that on good authority.”

Musk’s comments were posted in response to OpenAI’s Jan. 21 announcement about Stargate.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, responded, disputing Musk’s statements.

“I genuinely respect your accomplishments and think you are the most inspiring entrepreneur of our time,” Altman also wrote in reply.

On Tuesday, Trump said he expects Stargate to create over 100,000 American jobs “almost immediately.”

“This monumental undertaking is a resounding declaration of confidence in America’s potential under a new president,” Trump said to reporters while discussing the joint venture.

Musk’s comments in the aftermath of Trump’s Stargate announcement have turned heads.

As reported by the Associated Press, Musk is a known Trump advisor who had supported the president’s campaign financially.

Musk is also spearheading Trump’s government cost cutting initiatives.

As media coverage of Musk’s comments increases, Musk has kept up his criticism of Stargate.

Additionally on Wednesday, the SpaceX CEO reposted an image of drug paraphanalia in relation to the Stargate announcement.

“Leaked image of the research tool OpenAI used to come up with their $500 billion number for Stargate,” Musk’s post read.
