Broadband networking solutions leader Comtrend will showcase their solution to unlock gigabit broadband at Broadband Communities Summit.

A solution that delivers gigabit broadband to multifamily-dwelling units (MDUs) over existing coax infrastructure will be showcased later this month at Broadband Communities Summit 2025 in Houston.

According to Comtrend, the G.hn-based DPU solution enables faster installs, lower costs, and higher margins.

Many MDUs—especially brownfield properties—have been overlooked due to the high cost and complexity of service upgrades,” the California-based company’s June 12 release stated. “Comtrend’s DPU solution flips the model, delivering gigabit speeds over existing coax—no trenching, no rewiring, no delays, and limited occupant disruption.”

Later this month at Summit 2025, Comtrend will offer demos of the G.hn DPU at their booth, booth #605.

The demos will occur on June 24 and June 25, according to Comtrend.

Bradley H. Joe, a senior director of product strategy at Comtrend North America, said MDUs represent a great untapped opportunity.

“Outdated wiring and costly upgrades have kept many properties off the map,” he said. “Our G.hn DPU solution gives providers and partners an affordable, scalable way to reach these buildings with a reliable broadband offering—without the burden of rewiring.”

According to Comtrend, the solution also addresses quality issues, offering a “reliable, cost-effective upgrade that’s easy to deploy—and built to perform.”

“Comtrend turns previously hard-to-serve MDUs into high-margin opportunities,” the company’s release stated.
