A major network infrastructure project in Kingsland, Georgia and the city’s surrounding region is now providing high-speed internet to some areas.
According to Comcast, the company spearheading the investment, areas where the network is live can now access services from Xfinity, Comcast Business and NOW.
In total, Comcast invested $7 million to make the network project possible, according to Comcast’s Jan. 14 release.
The network is able to provide up to 1.2 gigabits per second for residential customers and up to 100 gigabits for businesses, Comcast’s announcement stated.
Kingsland City Manager Lee H. Spell, quoted in Comcast’s release, said the network represents a significant milestone for Kingsland.
“As we usher in Comcast’s arrival, we embrace a future where high-speed internet and unparalleled telecommunication services are not just a luxury but a fundamental necessity for our residents, businesses, and institutions,” Spell said. “In an era defined by connectivity, the importance of robust internet infrastructure cannot be overstated.”
Jeff Buzzelli, a senior vice president of Comcast’s Florida division, was also quoted in the firm’s announcement.
“We’re proud to invest in Kingsland and surrounding communities,” Buzzelli said. “From fast internet to home security, mobile services and entertainment, residents and businesses in Kingsland now have a new and reliable connectivity option in town. We can’t wait for them to experience it.”
