Comcast has released their Q4 results from 2023, which were described as revealing the company’s “excellent operational and financial performance,” according to Comcast’s CEO.
Revenues for Comcast increased 2.3 percent year-over-year in the final quarter of 2023, and the company drove “strong revenue” in their connectivity and platforms business, according to a summary of Q4 financial results released by Comcast.
Brian L. Roberts, the chairman and CEO of Comcast, assessed the company’s financial standing in a statement released with the summary of Q4 results.
“We drove strong revenue and Adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) growth in our connectivity and platforms businesses and continued to expand and upgrade our network to fuel broadband,” Roberts stated.
Roberts also celebrated the success of Peacock, Comcast’s streaming service.
“I couldn’t be more proud of how our company came together to deliver a record-breaking NFL Wild Card game on Peacock and the nation’s biggest night on the internet ever,” his comments noted, referring to a recent game between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Previously, Comcast reported that the game, which resulted in a 26-7 win for the Kansas City Chiefs, was the most-streamed live event in U.S. history and consumed 30 percent of internet traffic, according to Comcast’s Jan. 14 press release.
The game was the NFL’s first ever playoff game that was live streamed exclusively, Comcast’s release stated.
At the time, Roberts called it “a very proud moment for Comcast.”
“From NBC Sports and Peacock to the Comcast team, our entire company worked seamlessly to plan for this game and executed flawlessly to deliver a streaming experience with the NFL on a scale that’s never been done before,” he remarked in the company’s release about the game’s success.
Other highlights in Comcast’s Q4 2023 summary related to broadband included an average rate per customer increase of 3.9 percent with domestic broadband, which drove domestic broadband revenue growth of 3.7 percent year-over-year in Q4.
Domestic broadband revenue growth for Comcast was also reported as having increased 4.2 percent above 2022 levels in 2023, the company’s Q4 summary stated.
