Network expansion work in the Houston area is now on full throttle thanks to recent investments from Comcast.

Comcast, the largest ISP in the Houston area, has invested more than $265 million into network expansion efforts that will reach more than 100,000 homes and businesses by the year’s end.
Construction for network expansion will begin in at least six area communities, Comcast reported in a March 21 blog post on the company’s website.
The communities of Conroe, Montgomery, Hempstead, Porter, Navasota, and Cleveland will all see network infrastructure projects, the largest of which being in Conroe, where Comcast plans to reach over 20,000 locations with fiber.
Regional Senior Vice President Jose Espinel, of Comcast Texas, said the company is also investing in fiber highways in Montgomery, Waller, Grimes and Liberty counties.
“By establishing the best broadband infrastructure today, we are securing the economic prosperity of these communities for tomorrow,” Espinel said in comments included with Comcast’s blog post.
Espinel further said Comcast is strategically investing in areas that are “undergoing significant growth.”
The company also took the chance to highlight a $1 million investment announced by Comcast earlier this month. The money, part of Comcast’s Project Up, will go towards shrinking the digital divide in southeastern Texas by funding digital skills programs and community spaces that offer free internet.
“Everyone deserves a chance to participate in the digital economy,” Espinel previously said. “You can’t do that without the resources and skills to use the Internet.”
“Our commitment will ensure that people from all backgrounds can connect to the moments that matter most.”
