Comcast has finished a major network expansion in Northeastern Pennsylvania, bringing multi-gigabit, symmetrical internet and a full slate of Xfinity and Comcast Business services to more than 8,800 homes and businesses across Carbon, Luzerne, and Schuylkill counties.
The rollout covers specific municipalities including Banks Township, Hazle Township, and multiple townships and boroughs in Schuylkill County; the Kaska neighborhood is slated to be connected by spring 2026.
Arrival of service as a boost for work, school, and commerce
“It’s important to provide our community with the best options for secure Wi-Fi and affordable mobile, delivering speed and reliability to the parents who work from home, the students who learn online, and the local businesses that serve our community,” said Larry Padora, chair of the Schuylkill County commissioners.
Wendy Dempsey, an Xfinity customer in Middleport Borough, added, “I got the five-year price guarantee and couldn’t be happier with the Wi-Fi speeds.”
Comcast said the expansion also includes physical retail presence nearby, pointing to Xfinity stores in Wilkes-Barre and Wyomissing where residents can compare plans, including offers such as a five-year price guarantee on internet service and deals on mobile.
The company also said they’re simultaneously beginning work in central Columbia County, first connecting homes and businesses in Mifflin Township and planning to extend service across several other townships to reach more than 2,700 locations, a step Comcast describes as paving the way for future expansion toward Bloomsburg and Danville.
“Our continued growth in Carbon, Columbia, Luzerne, and Schuylkill counties underscores our commitment to delivering the ultimate Wi-Fi experience throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Ricky Frazier Jr., Comcast regional senior vice president.
The company positioned the work as part of an ongoing push across the region: earlier expansion reportedly brought connectivity to more than 18,500 homes and businesses in other nearby communities.
Comcast also said it aims to support adoption through programs like Internet Essentials and investments in local digital-skills and Wi-Fi access initiatives.
