Over 300 locations in Bossier Parish and over 650 locations in Caddo Parish in Louisiana have gained access to broadband thanks to ConnectLA’s Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) 1.0 program and Comcast.
Both parishes are in Louisiana’s northwestern corner.
Connect LA announced the accomplishment last Friday and included comments from the governor.
“Louisiana continues to turn federal broadband funding into opportunities for the future,” said Gov. Jeff Landry. “I would like to thank President Trump and the Louisiana delegation for their commitment to these efforts. Connecting homes and businesses in Bossier Parish and Caddo Parish helps bring us closer to our goal of full connectivity in Louisiana.”
federal funding provided by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund (CPF) made the project possible, along with private investment from Comcast, the state’s broadband office announced.
“Our goal at ConnectLA is to serve residents effectively and make a positive impact,” said Veneeth Iyengar, executive director of ConnectLA. “By working closely with providers and partners, we are able to get infrastructure in the ground as quickly and efficiently as possible, providing fast and reliable internet service where it’s needed most.”
