Drones could provide a high-flying fix for broadband deployers looking for safer and quicker methods of data collection, according to CHR Solutions.
The company, a well-respected provider of engineering, cybersecurity and software solutions for communications service providers, now says they’re positioning to meet the growing need for drone-based data collection.
“Drones give us the ability to gather precise field intelligence faster and more safely than traditional methods,” said Bob Bartz, an EVP of engineering services at CHR. “With BEAD-funded builds, new fiber routes, and the explosive growth of AI-driven data centers, providers can’t afford delays caused by incomplete or inaccurate field data.”
Bartz said CHR’s enhanced drone-based data collection program expands CHR’s capabilities significantly.
“This program positions CHR to help our clients move quickly from design to construction, reduce bottlenecks and keep pace with the scale and urgency of today’s infrastructure demands,” Bartz said.
With the program, CHR said they’re able to conduct aerial site surveys and visual pole surveys by utilizing high-resolution site imagery and GIS-ready datasets with orthomosaic drones.
“The rise of data-driven GIS changed everything,” a November blog post on CHR’s website said. “In a remarkably short time, we’ve gained unprecedented accuracy, efficiency, and confidence in our designs.”
In a release this week, CHR also said their program matches an ongoing trend in construction.
“Drone adoption in the infrastructure and construction sectors is accelerating rapidly,” the company’s release stated, “with industry research showing that nearly 60% of U.S. construction firms now use drones in their field workflows in 2024–2025.”
