City and state leaders in Cleveland have announced a series of sizable investments into a major project that will expand broadband to residents across the city. Joshua Edmonds, the CEO of DigitalC, the city’s choice for internet connectivity, joins us to discuss the efforts.

Joshua Edmonds, the CEO of DigitalC, said Cleveland is rewriting their own story by allowing a local provider to lead out the city’s ambitious connectivity plans, which aim to provide broadband access to all city residents.

Edmonds said connectivity efforts in the city will be a new chapter for digital equity in Cleveland. He said DigitalC is proud to be a primary author of that chapter.

“It is absolutely a standout story,” Edmonds said of Cleveland’s efforts. “I have to give credit to the mayor’s administration as well as city council just for being able to work together.”

Edmonds said many cities shared Cleveland’s vision of seeking to provide agency to local companies regarding broadband builds, but those aspirations didn’t always trickle down to the political level.

He said Cleveland’s ability to make good on their vision shines a light on the leadership within Cleveland itself.
