Over 60,000 locations across Indiana are due to be connected to Brightspeed’s fiber-optic network, the internet service provider (ISP) has announced.
According to Brightspeed, based in North Carolina, the work is continuing throughout 30 communities in the state with new locations coming online daily.
In total, Brightspeed hopes to reach approximately 126,000 families in Indiana once construction is completed, the ISP’s Feb. 20 announcement stated.
“With only 51 percent of the state currently having access to fiber service according to BroadbandNow, this expansion helps bridge the connectivity gap,” Brightspeed’s release explained.
In the coming weeks, Brightspeed said the firm’s sales representatives would be knocking on doors in Columbia City, Decatur, Kentland, Winamac, Knightstown, Plymouth, Nappanee, Portland, Monticello, Rensselaer, South Whitley, and Syracuse.
The company will be offering base fiber plans at 200 mbps with affordable costs, the company’s announcement said.
Right now, Brightspeed considers themselves the nation’s third largest fiber broadband builder with operations in 20 states.
A summary of Brightspeed’s operations says the ISP currently serves over 7.3 million homes and businesses nationwide.
