Houston’s growing multifamily market presented a budding opportunity for Blue Stream Fiber, according to Kate Grutzmacher.

Kate Grutzmacher, who manages community partnerships with Blue Stream Fiber as a senior vice president, said Houston is one of the fastest growing markets in the nation with respect to multifamily communities.
“When we were looking at expansion markets, we looked at Houston very hard,” Grutzmacher said on a recent episode of Beyond the Cable, a Broadband Communities podcast.
Houston’s quick growth was a main catalyst for Blue Stream Fiber’s investments in the Houston area, according to Grutzmacher.

Additionally, said Houston’s forward-thinking mindset presented a wonderful opportunity to Blue Stream Fiber, with a great market share that was available.
Grutzmacher also called Houston an innovative community and noted that roughly 1,300 people per day are moving to the Houston area.
“So, it’s an expanding market,” she said. “It’s not stopping. If anyone spends any time in Houston, the traffic is a telltale sign.”
Blue Stream Fiber first announced their expansion to Houston in September 2024.
In their initial announcement, the company pledged to work with homeowner associations (HOAs), condominium associations (COAs), developers, and also builders.
Before expanding to Houston’s market, Blue Stream Fiber solidified its status as a major player in Florida’s market, serving 385,000 residents and 500 communities as of last year.
With their announcement, Blue Stream said they’d “bring a new era of connectivity to the Greater Houston community.”
“It’s a great expansion market with a really forward, innovative community that’s looking for fast, reliable connectivity and different solutions that they don’t have to today,” Grutzmacher said on Beyond the Cable.
