A new agreement to acquire Spectracomm and their subsidiary Arkwest Communications is being hailed as a key milestone in PhireLink’s footprint expansion.
The deal, announced yesterday, will see Arkwest continuing to operate under their current name, according to PhireLink’s announcement.
The broadband infrastructure provider, based in Louisiana, currently conducts operations in their home state, Colorado, and Kansas.
Glen F. Post III, PhireLink’s CEO and chairman, called the news “a key milestone in our growth journey as we enter the Arkansas market.”
He said Arkwest has a strong financial profile, an experienced employee base, and deep community ties formed over several generations of local ownership.
According to Post, Arkwest is “the ideal launching point for PhireLink’s planned rural-based, broadband expansion strategy across central and broader Arkansas.”
Arkwest additionally has deep roots in Arkansas.

According to PhireLink’s release, the company has been serving communities in Arkansas since 1939.
Currently, PhireLink says Arkwest utilizes third-generation GPON fiber technology, which provides multi-gigabit-per-second symmetrical upstream and downstream broadband speeds.
‘Ready for a new chapter’
Todd Sanders, Spectracomm’s chairman, said Arkwest’s Western Arkansas network was created “entirely by internally-generated cash flows.”
“Our family is ready for a new chapter and knows that our company of more than 85 years is in great hands with the continuing service of exceptionally strong employees and the stewardship of leaders from PhireLink who have a long history of investing in rural America,” Sanders said.
Terms of the deal, which is expected to close in Q2 pending approvals, were not disclosed to the media.
